The Cottagers trip to the seaside last night proved to be a memorable one for all the wrong reasons.

Instead of celebrating a fourth win on the bounce Fulham were trounced 5-0 by a Brighton side who are chasing promotion and were in far better fettle than we were.

Indeed, following the thrashing Slavisa Jokanovic accepted that Fulham were fortunate it was only 5-0 and not more.

The carnage started when Brighton took the lead through a penalty, the 11th Fulham have conceded this season, by far the most by any side in the Championship, having been awarded a spot-kick Tomer Hemed made no mistake in putting our hosts 1-0 up.

Four minutes later Brighton doubled their lead when Hemed scored his second of the game, heading in a cross from Anthony Knockaert.

Already it seemed as if it was a matter of how many Fulham would concede as opposed to Fulham mounting a comeback. The carnage continued when Bruno made it 3-0 before Brighton`s Israeli striker, Hemed made it 4-0 and notching up a personal hat-trick.

With the Fulham faithful starting to drift away from the Amex Stadium, the rout was ended when Knockaert made it 5-0.

Thankfully, any plans to spend the weekend in Brighton were not followed through and it was with relief that I got back on the train and headed back to West London, hoping that our recent revival, whereby we still need five points to be certain of not going down, hasn`t ended too soon.
