Earlier this season Matthew Briggs looked as if he was going to figure in our first team plans quite prominently.

But after an early flourish, Briggs has only been glimpsed on the bench, therefore it makes good sense to loan the England U21 youngster out to ensure his progress isn`t hindered by a lack of action.

To this effect, it`s being reported that a loan agreement, to send Briggs to Bristol City, will be signed inside the next forty-eight hours.

If it is confirmed, it`s definitely one to keep an eye on.

  • If this is true I think it’s a bad move, we don’t have loads of quality cover at left back and Briggs has always done well when he’s come in

  • Well we can always recall him should something happen to Riise (hope not). Bad thing is that there will be no real competition for Riise for the time of this spell that may affect his playin quality.

  • this guy should be in the first team and where is baird and Hughes when they wer in the team we had one of the best defences in the priemership

  • agreed truth sayer! Hughes is better than Senderos. Briggs is quality, I reckon we’ll end up doing another Smalling and losing a great young player. Risse is slow and not what he once was.

  • i’d rather see briggs than riise as well… quicker, and he’s got promise… hope he develops…
