We can all give a collective sigh of relief!
After three consecutive defeats, Fulham not only turned things around with a win but did it on the road as well, their first Premier League victory away from the pleasant pastures of Craven Cottage this season.
Also, I guess if you are going to achieve the improbable what better way to do so than to double your goals tally on the road as well.
For the trip to the Reebok Stadium Roy Hodgson was able to welcome back Bobby Zamora after the striker recovered from his hip injury and Aaron Hughes also managed to shake off a rib injury to resume defensive duties alongside Brede Hangeland.
The Reebok Stadium was surprisingly full thanks to an initiative taken by the home side whereby all tickets were £10 in aid of the Look Good Feel Good charity.
Our hosts started the better of the two sides and Steinsson had an early chance but slowly Fulham began to make their mark on the game. Danny Murphy and Simon Davies combined to win a corner and when it was only half cleared Pantsil should have done better with his shot from the edge of the area.
Fulham then had a major scare. A McCann free kick was spilled by Mark Schwarzer and in the ensuing scramble Cahill forced the Aussie keeper into a fine save and then watched as his second effort was hacked to safety off the line.
Fulham retaliated with a chance carved out by a good cross from Pantsil that just evaded the fast approaching Zamora at the far post. Bolton thought they had scored the opening goal of the game when Matthew Taylor (our one to watch in the match preview) netted but thankfully the offside flag was up.
As the action switched down to the other end Jaaskelainen was forced to make a good save from Zamora and just as you thought there would be no score at half time, Fulham snatched a goal.
O`Brien was hesitant in defence closing down a long ball and Johnson pounced to prod home, 1-0 up and half time fast approaching, only three minutes to navigate.
Unfortunately it was three minutes too long because on the stroke of half time an Elmander dummy fooled the Fulham defence and Kevin Davies equalised.
The second half saw the Swede Elmander have an effort that just rolled the wrong side of the post before in the 56th minute Fulham regained the lead. Andrew Johnson was one-on-one with the keeper but the ball contrived to find Danny Murphy who saw his shot rebound out of the bar for Simon Davies to net.
Two goals away from home in one game, what was going on?
Bolton tried to get back on level terms and a Taylor cross (that man again) saw a Cahill header flash by. Then with two minutes of the ninety left, Fulham took the game out of the home sides reach with a third goal.
It came after our substitute Diomansy Kamara latched onto a Clint Dempsey ball to score from just inside the area. Three goals, three points, it feels like heaven!
