This season has, so far, been a huge disappointment.

Nobody envisaged we`d be struggling like we are and rumours of a change in the managerial hot-seat have been rife.

But looking at what has been going on, it`s fair to say there have been several under-achievers on the field of play.

One who has particularly disappointed has been Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian has been a shadow of the player he was last season and the decision, made by Martin Jol, to award him the captaincy, in Brede Hangeland`s absence, baffled many.

Therefore I find it strange that the name of Dimitar Berbatov has been bandied about by one media source as a possible January transfer target .

It seems this one source is off the opinion that the Catalan giants see the experienced Bulgarian as the ideal experienced replacement for Lionel Messi when the Argentine wizard is out injured.

I bet Berbatov would perk up if he pulled on their famous shirt!
