Did that rare appearance Kostas Mitroglou made in pre-season set hearts a flutter in Portugal?

The reason we ask is that hidden in the plethora of snippets of information on the BBC Sport News text feed is the suggestion that the Portuguese giants of Benfica are at loggerheads with Sporting Lisbon as to who the Greek international should play for.

Based on a headline in the Portuguese sports paper Abola it is suggested that Benfica have stolen Mitroglou from Sporting Lisbon.

Mitroglou, as we all know, had a Fulham career that is best forgotten. Signed for a mammoth fee of £11 million just eighteen months ago, Kostas has pulled on a Fulham shirt just three times without troubling the scorers.

Loaned to Olympiakos last season, he obviously didn`t do enough to convince them to keep him so with headlines like ‘stolen` being bandied about, I`m wondering how before the goods plundered will be sold on once the realisation hits home they`re not really up to the job.
