Following on our poor showing against Liverpool and in the aftermath of that hurtful 5-2 defeat matters have got worse.

Yesterday, after looking at the evidence, Chris Baird has been charged by the Football Association for using abusive language / insulting gesture towards the referee Lee Mason.

It transpires that the Irishman took offence to the booking he received from Lee Mason, after tangling with Dirk Kuyt, and flicked a v-sign in his direction.

Baird, who we`d say doesn`t have much of a defence, has until 1800 tonight to appeal.

  • i have no problem with our players being reprimanded for their lost temper… someone has to do it, and it certainly isn’t our manager… there’s no time for that sort of nonsense in the club… it can only hurt us and cannot help…

  • Its one of the downsides to having a passionate manager, the players follow suit. This would have been unheard of under (sir) Roy.

  • The squad was tempermental even from the outset. Just got more frustrated as it went on, I guess.
