Fulham slipped to defeat against an in-form Aston Villa this afternoon, at Villa Park.

The defeat leaves the Cottagers in 11th place in the Championship and with their aspirations of getting promoted, come May, getting slenderer by the game.

Aston Villa took the lead when John Terry, now 36, firmly headed home a cross from Conor Hourihane, it was Terry`s first goal for Aston Villa since joining them in the summer, after his career at Chelsea came to an end.

Fulham battled well and were level in stoppage time in the first half when Stefan Johansen executed the perfect free-kick to beat Sam Johnstone in the Aston Villa goal.

Sadly, Fulham were to concede relatively early in the second half when a mis-kick from Jonathan Kodjia fell nicely for Albert Adomah to score.

The Cottagers did their best to get back on level terms with a decent chance falling to Floyd Ayite but his shot was straight at the Villa keeper.

The victory ensured Villa maintained their record of not losing at home in the Championship this season whilst also ending Fulham`s recent four-game unbeaten run.
