And The Size Of The Task Fulham Face Put Bluntly Is?

|

With just 12 games of the 2018 / 2019 Premier League season left, hopes that the Cottagers can escape the clutches of relegation are fading.

Perhaps the fact that several of those 12 games are against top-class opposition hasn’t helped to raise enthusiasm that another great escape, just like that of the 2007 / 2008 season, might be possible.

During that season, in the fixture at Manchester City, in April, Fulham were effectively relegated at half-time but a three-goal spell in 20 second-half minutes changed that, in a game that Fulham supporters will forever remember.

But, then again, in this wonderful sport of ours, you just never know.

However, if Fulham have to survive the drop into the Championship then history shows what a tough objective it is.

Only one other club, West Bromwich Albion, have managed to avoid relegation after taking 17 points (or fewer) from the first 26 games of a Premier League season.
