An Unlikely Player Swap Deal Could See Fulham Hero Leaving Craven Cottage

|

Last season, when Fulham were on a remarkable unbeaten run, a run that helped the club achieve promotion from the Championship, Tom Cairney was a prominent member of the side.

Cairney, 27-years-of-age, was the captain of the side and was, indeed, the scorer of the winning goal in that memorable Play-Off Final win, against Aston Villa at Wembley.

However, this season, with Fulham struggling to make an impact in the Premier League, Cairney hasn’t prospered as well as we all hoped he would.

Today, lurking in the pages of the tabloid publication the Sun, is the inference that the Scottish international could be set to leave Craven Cottage.

Our referenced source is promoting the suggestion that our manager, Claudio Ranieri, is looking to do a swap deal, with Newcastle United, that would see Cairney head north and Jonjo Shelvey head to Craven Cottage.

Personally, I’m not sure what to make of the proposed deal.

Could Shelvey be the player Ranieri feels the club needs to survive?

If so, is it worth sacrificing Cairney hoping the deal keeps the club in the Premier League?

It’s a subject we feel is worthy of a poll, please feel free to participate, it takes a matter of seconds and the information we receive is most valued.
