The grapevine yesterday implied that Birmingham City would not be fielding their keeper, Jack Butland, in their FA Cup replay with Leeds.
The insinuation being that they didn`t want to jeopardize any potential transfer by making the keeper cup-tied.
Further speculation suggested that this move was to suit Fulham, a club that has been linked with the young England keeper.
This morning that inference has been blown out of the water with the news being broken, by one source, that Fulham are very close to signing the 29 year-old AS Roma keeper, Maarten Stekelenburg
Now that would be a coup!
