We thought that when Ray Lewington was asked to join the England caching set-up alongside Roy Hodgson, everything would be okay.

Today the tabloids inform us that is far from being the case with Fulham having given consent for Ray to join Roy for the forthcoming Euro 2012 Finals but beyond that it is still open to discussion.

It seems that Fulham believe that the Football Association should be offering compensation for luring Ray away from Craven Cottage with a source remarking,

“Ray`s allowed to go to Euro 2012 with Roy.”

“But after that we want him back. He`s under contract and only compensation of around £1 million would be enough to let him go.”

To us it all sounds a bit harsh and we`d like to know your views on the subject.

  • It is all very well being patriotic but football is a business these days.We may have to pay compensation to get a replacement5.

  • as far i heard, he wasn’t doing much, as he was roy’s boy and not jol’s… but i suppose fulham has to try to get some money from it… it’s the business savvy thing to do…
