I guess in the grand scheme of things it is the best we could have hoped for.
After all, playing in a side that rarely challenges for honours is something of a handicap when it comes to receiving personal accolades.
Therefore, we`re of the opinion that it is a top-notch achievement for Clint Dempsey to have come fourth in the annual Professional Football Writers Player of the Year.
Whilst Clint`s stock continues to rise we`ll remain fearful of him being bought by a bigger club but whilst he remains with us we`ll continue to cherish him.
For the record, the players who finished above Clint in the annual award were – Robin Van Persie (1st), Wayne Rooney (2nd) and Paul Scholes (3rd).
