A former Fulham player could reach a remarkable personal milestone this Saturday.

Aaron Hughes, who served the club admirably, could become only the second ever Northern Ireland international if he is selected to represent his country for their final Euro 2016 warm-up against Slovakia in Trnava.

The only other player to reach the 100 cap mark is the goalkeeping legend Pat Jennings.

Talking to the media about reaching the milestone, Aaron has remarked,

‘It’s something no-one can ever take away.”

Whilst adding about those who, whilst he was at Fulham, inspired him towards the milestone, two fellow Fulham centurions in Damien Duff and Georgios Karagounis who earned one hundred caps for the Republic of Ireland and Greece respectively,

‘Damian had just got his 100 and Karagounis was there too so I was sat there with a couple of lads who were sitting there with a hundred caps and I thought it would be pretty cool to have that.

‘To walk away at the end of your career and look back on it, it’s something no-one can ever take away so I feel a great deal of pride.”

Ironically it appears that Aaron will earn his 100th cap against the same country whom he made his debut against – Slovakia.

Congratulations from all at Vital Fulham Aaron Hughes.
