After the 0-0 draw, a game that brought differing reactions from both sets of supporters, it was time for the managers to speak.

Martin O`Neill, obviously expecting three points, realised that his team had lost an opportunity to close the gap on the teams above him remarking,

‘Yes, that was an opportunity missed for us. We when into the game full of confidence but I knew it would be difficult. We missed a few chances to win the game and it’s a couple of points dropped there’s no doubt about that. “

‘You can analyse this game until you’re blue in the face but if you take your chances you win the game.”

‘The onus is on us to push on at home but, yes, there were a few misplaced passes and some sloppy play so it didn’t come off for us today, which is a shame.’

Fair comments all round and something we`d expect from a man who leaves a favourable impression wherever he goes.

As for Roy Hodgson, he spoke about how his side had achieved the result, their work rate and their endeavour, commenting,

‘Neither side played particularly well I don’t think but we held our own in the first half and even though we were put under a bit more pressure in the second, I was pleased with our resolve.

‘We defended well throughout and we didn’t allow them any more chances than you would expect to when you visit a top four side.

‘Overall, I’m delighted with the players’ attitude and approach and, in general, the team is getting better. We’re not creating as many chances as I’d like but I know that will come in time so I’m happy enough at the moment.’

Bring on Manchester City is all we`ll say.
